Humanitarian House International, Inc.1 is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on developing and deploying housing solutions for families and communities attempting to survive natural disasters, war, and other life-affecting events.
Humanitarian House International (HHI) was started by Stuart Ohlson, an architect of sky-scraping, award-winning residential buildings around the world. Mr. Ohlson was a founder of Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative (OLC), a highly-respected international architecture firm headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with additional offices in Orlando, Tokyo, and Cairo.
Following his retirement, Mr. Ohlson turned passionate and trained eyes on the plight of earthquake victims in Haiti.
Our vision is to "save the world, one house at a time."
Our mission is to build the finest emergency housing available worldwide, and to supply add-ons to transform emergency housing into unique, permanent homes. By doing so, we hope to enable people to move from hopelessness to hope; from subsistence to productivity.
We are a group of experienced architects, builders, and managers with one goal: to make the world better for the unfortunate who are living in distressed conditions and who need housing that is not only emergency housing but also housing that will last for years.
Humanitarian House International's management team includes seasoned veterans with diverse and deep credentials:
